— Background story of TrivikramaPanditha and Madhwa’s meet

About the series:
Sri Madhwavijaya is a historical work documenting the entire life of Sri Madhwacharya. The author Sri Narayanapanditha, a contemporary of Sri Madhwa, clearly states how he verified the historical facts before documenting them. The work itself is kavya, a historical account and a shastra grantha (scriptural text), all the three put together. This unique work has few parallels in the sanskrit literature.
The first half of chapter 15 of Sri Madhwavijaya is dedicated mainly to providing a bird’s eye view of all the philosophical thoughts that existed during the 13th century. Sri Madhwa pointed out the flaws in all of them before establishing his philosophy known as Tattvavada (popularly known as Dwaitha). There ensued an argument between Sri Trivikrama and Sri Madhwa for about 7-8 days during which time Sri Madhwa answered all of Sri Trivikrama’s doubts. At the end Sri Trivikramapanditha accepted defeat and was elated to have found his Guru in Sri Madhwa.
In this series of talks Sri BG has explained the various different schools of thought in a very lucid manner which can be grasped even by common people. This very lucid explanation is testament to Sri BG’s firm grasp of the arguments and thoughts of all philosophical schools. For the audience this series provides a birds eye view of the philosophical thoughts of Bharatha.
